Delves Junior School Christmas Fair
Flourish Education Volunteering at Delves Junior School
Senior Education Consultant, Jo recently attended Delves Junior School (Bell Lane, Walsall) for a day to help out with their Christmas stands, at the annual Christmas Fair.
Working with Delves Junior School
The junior school is located in Walsall and teaches Key Stage 2 (years 3 - 6) pupils. The Flourish Education team have a long established relationship with the school as we've worked with them for many years. Their shared vision is to promote equality, a sense of self worth and individual achievement. They strive to provide a quality education, in a happy and safe environment which brings both exciting challenges and lots of fun!
Every member of our inclusive school community needs to feel happy, secure and confident so that they can flourish in all aspects of their development.
Every child is valued and supported by our enthusiastic and talented staff, who work in partnership with our families, to ensure that all children reach their potential. Our aim is that all of our school community “Believe and Achieve.” - Mrs. A Arnold
The 2017 Christmas Fair
There were various festive stands at the Christmas Fair which were organised and decorated by pupils and teachers. Most of them involved a winning element either by luck of the draw or by playing a game to win a prize. Jo mostly helped out on the 'Jingle Jars' stall. Paying visitors would choose a colourful drinking straw and push out a rolled-up raffle ticket to hopefully reveal a winning raffle number. The prize would be a decorated jar filled with sweets and other treats.
As well as raffles, some of the other stalls had tasty goodies, sweets; homemade ornaments and decorations for sale. If we had to choose a favourite stall it would be the homemade knitted goods stand - some pupils have crafty parents as there were some creative knitting designs on offer.
All funds raised are reinvested in the school so the children have the best resources available to them. At the time of publishing this post, the school is currently fundraising to increase the number of books in their library. Senior management at Flourish Education felt that we should offer help with this good cause, so Jo also presented the Head teacher, Mrs Amanda Arnold with a cheque for £250 as a contribution towards expanding the new school library.
Jo reported back to the team that she really enjoyed her day out. She bumped into and caught up with many familiar teacher faces that she has personally supplied into the school over time, whilst working at Flourish Education. Jo would be more than happy to volunteer her time again for the schools that we work with.
