Interview with permanently placed primary school teacher - Mr Warlow

Patrick was one of the education students that we met during our visit to the Worcester University agency fair in 2015. He happily registered with Flourish Education, mentioning that he was ideally looking for a permanent position to relocate to, wherever he got a job for his induction year.

In the meantime, Woodhouse Primary Academy were on the lookout for a newly qualified reception teacher (NQT) and from their description, we immediately thought of Patrick. One of our education consultants, Laura spoke to the school, sang Patrick's praises and encouraged them to meet him. It was a match made in heaven. The school offered Patrick a permanent position on the same day that he went in for his interview.

"At Woodhouse Primary Academy, we promise a nurturing ethos where children will be able to dream and plan for the future. We recognise that every child is unique and we will invest in them individually by ensuring that they are known, loved and well taught." - Woodhouse Primary Academy

We like to follow up with our candidates after they've been placed in long-term or permanet roles to see how they're getting on and share their successes. Patrick kindly said he would answer a few questions for us - please read his comments below:

Q1. Please tell us a bit about you, your background & career:

Hi I’m Patrick. I’m currently a Primary School Teacher working in Birmingham. This is my NQT year and I’m teaching in Early Years Foundation Stage. After relocating to Worcester in September 2015 to undertake my PGCE, I didn’t know the surrounding areas as well as some of my peers. This is where Flourish Education was able to leap in and help me find the great school I’m now teaching at now.

Q2. What factors made you choose Flourish Education?

My first encounter with Flourish Education, came at an agency fair in December 2015 at the University of Worcester, where I met some friendly members of the Flourish team. Consequently, the members of staff I met were extremely helpful and explained the process in understandable terms.

Q3. What do you love the most about what you do?

It’s hard to pinpoint what I love most about my job. However, the teaching position I now hold allows me to develop my professional practise on a daily basis. Whilst being surrounded by highly experienced and committed colleagues to provide the best educational outcomes for the children we teach.

Q4. Tell me what your experience has been like with Flourish Education

My experience with Flourish Education has been positive from the beginning. Every member of staff, I have spoken to has been highly helpful and supportive. Offering me opportunities, to apply for positions in a variety of settings and age ranges.

Q5. Tell us about the relationship with your consultant?

My consultant Laura was exceptionally helpful! Laura made every step of the process as easy as possible to accommodate my needs, whilst I was on placement. Laura has gone above and beyond to ensure that this position I am in now is the right position for me and for the school; with termly phone calls to catch up on how I am enjoying my job.

Q6. Why would you recommend us to someone else?

I would recommend Flourish Education to any teachers in training or currently looking for work as they provide a friendly, welcoming and an effective service.
