A group of us from Flourish Education had a great day at the BASBM 2016 Conference

The team enjoyed talking to delegates and fellow exhibitors at Edgbaston Stadium (home of Warwickshire CountyCricket Club) is always a popular venue.

BASBM (sponsored by ParentPay) held the conference to provide its 400 members with an opportunity to:

  • Hear from leading speakers, and representatives from both local and national educational establishments.
  • Assist their development in line with the ‘NASBM Professional Standards’ framework.
  • Network with colleagues from across the region.
  • Meet with specialist educational suppliers, such as ourselves.

It was an early start but we managed to have our exhibitor stand set-up and manned by 8am in the morning. Delegates started arriving soon after. Jane Taylor – Chair of BASBM then welcomed everyone and presented the agenda for the day.

On the agenda were workshops, exhibitions, networking opportunities and a talk 'staying sane in challenging times!' by guest speaker, Pam Burrows. She effectively demonstrated practical techniques that enable you to create an oasis of calm, no matter what chaos is going on around you.

To the right of us were Eduk8worldwide on and Cityserve to our left.

CityServe and Eduk8worldwide exhibiting

Eduk8worldwide believe passionately that the process of learning should be fun and enjoyable. All their products are carefully designed and researched. Cityserve are a leading provider of non-education services to schools in Birmingham.

Catering and refreshments were served in the 1882 Lounge throughout the day; central service stations enabled a good flow of delegates around the entire room. Our free Flourish Education branded Thermal Mug and Tea Break Snack Packs went down a storm. There are plenty of tea lovers and coffee addicts in our office. We appreciate a good brew and hope the delegates do too!

We grabbed a bite to eat between 12noon - 12.25pm, 25 minutes to fuel up and enjoy lunch before chatting with hundreds of delegates.

To coincide with this event, we offered delegates the chance to win a Teaching Assistant* or Cover Supervisor* for a whole week. A representative from Edgbaston Stadium visited our stand to pick out a prize winner for our raffle.

The conference organisers wanted us be able to spend as much time as possible meeting the delegates and promoting our business, so prizes weren't drawn and presented to the delegates during the day. Names of raffle prize winners will be on the Birmingham Bursars website from Thursday 17th November.

These conferences are always very popular; we'd definitely like to continue our support and exhibit again in the future.
