The WASBM 2017 Conference
Some of the team from Flourish Education had a great day at the The Worcestershire Association of School Business Management (WASBM) 2017 Conference, talking to delegates and fellow exhibitors at the Bank House Hotel.
The WASBM began in back in 2008
A number of Business Managers had felt the need for a forum to discuss mutual interests, promote best practice and assist in professional development. They have connections with other professional groups and bodies such as:
- Midland Bursar Group (MBG),
- National Association of School Business Management (NASBM),
- Worcestershire Association of Secondary Headteachers (WASH)
- and the National College for School Leadership (NCSL).
It was an early start but we managed to have our exhibitor stand set-up and manned by 8am in the morning. Delegates arrived soon after and were seated for a welcome and the agenda for the day.
On the WASBM agenda
There were workshops, exhibitions, networking opportunities and international renowned keynote speakers.
The first keynote speaker in the Garden Rooom was, Jo Fairley Co-founder of the chocolate company Green & Black’s. Jo Fairley is one of the UK's leading female entrepreneurs. After becoming the the UK’s youngest-ever magazine editor, at the age of 23, she set out on her entrepreneurial journey in 1991 when she co-founded Green & Black’s Chocolate, now a $100 million a year brand.
Second speaker of the day was, Jim Lawless author of bestselling book “Taming Tigers”. Jim is a speaker and adviser who has inspired people within some of the world’s leading companies to take astute risks and adapt for change and high performance.
A fantastic networking event
It was wonderful to chat with delegates and mingle with fellow exhibitors in between the workshops and breaks. It was jam packed day and time flew by. Once all of the tea, coffee, pastries had been consumed, presentations wrapped up and final words spoken - it was time to pull out winners from the Prize Drawers.
Flourish Education entered a raffle prize into the proceedings for one lucky school to win the support of a teaching assistant for 1 week. On this occasion we would like to congratulate Swan Lane First School in Evesham, for picking the winning ticket.
The Worcestershire Association of School Business Management Conference (bit of a mouthful) was a terrific event from start to finish. We will definitely be reserving a place for next time.
