We’ve passed our 2021 APSCo Compliance+ audit!
Each year, Flourish Education undergoes a yearly audit to renew our Compliance+ accreditation. The APSCo audit process is a very thorough check of all our due diligence for safeguarding checks, including DBS, proof of identity and employment history.
We're very proud to announce we've passed our 2021 APSCo Compliance+ audit with a 100% rating! Our compliance team has pulled out all the stops this year to combat the added pressure from Covid restrictions. The team has done an amazing job, surpassing all expectations for maintaining our own strict compliance standards.
Who are APSCo and what is Compliance+?
The Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo) is the only membership body dedicated to excellence in professional recruitment. They are the authoritative, trusted voice for the sector, providing governance over recruitment processes and ensuring best practice quality assurance. The APSCo accreditation is recognised by employers and candidates as a quality mark in talent acquisition.
APSCo has developed Compliance+ to provide an uncompromising quality benchmark for education recruitment companies. The requirements of Compliance+ compel education recruiters to go beyond statutory safeguarding standards and aim for excellence in competency selection and service quality. The accreditation is designed to offer recruiters a framework for providing a best-in-class service. It was developed by APSCo following extensive consultation with their Education Sector Group members and other key stakeholders including the National Association of Head Teachers, Governors for Schools (formerly the School Governors One-Stop Shop), the Association of School & College Leaders and the Institute of School Business Leadership (formerly the National Association of School Business Managers).

Why choose an APSCo Compliance+ accredited agency?
Compliance+ gives Flourish Education a framework for providing clients better-prepared, better-suited, better-trained (and therefore safer) candidates. We take safeguarding extremely seriously, and our accreditation certifies our practices beyond the statutory requirements. It also helps us to improve positive outcomes for children and vulnerable adults because we only place competent, suitable and high-quality candidates within our clients’ classrooms.
The accreditation process means we’re audited once a year by an independent professional, requiring us to maintain a stringent internal continuous improvement process. Compliance+ is also a recognised recruitment standard by the Crown Commercial Service (CCS) and their Department for Education backed Supply Teacher Framework, of which Flourish Education is an approved supplier. The CCS use the APSCo accreditation as a selection criterion for appointing suppliers under the framework.

What was the audit process like?
Our Compliance Manager, Toni Pike, comments:
“The audit process is a useful tool for benchmarking the team’s performance and highlighting areas of improvement. It’s so reassuring to know we’re doing everything we can to safeguard for clients and candidates. The process itself was very straightforward, and communication with the auditor was excellent. This year, the audit was performed remotely so our auditor, Adele Gladman, advised us well in advance what would happen on the day, what was required and when everything was needed by. On the day of the audit, she interviewed key team members including myself, our Operations Manager, the Managing Director and a number of our recruitment advisors about our processes. She put everyone at ease with a friendly demeanour and gave valuable insights into the education environment, including how APSCo are currently working and the potential changes for the future.”
What did APSCo say about Flourish Education?
Our auditor report said it all. According to Adele, “Flourish work to an exceptionally high standard with an extremely thorough compliance process and comprehensive auditing checklist.” We think that sums it up perfectly, but that doesn’t mean we’ll rest on our laurels.
