Building Positive School Culture: With Staff, Parents & Pupils at the Heart

Image announcing a free online roundtable event about building school culture, featuring guest speaker Luke Payton and presented by Grant Taylor.

In a time where schools face increasing pressure around attendance, staff wellbeing and parental trust, school culture is more important than ever. But what does a thriving school culture really look like – and how do you build one that places pupils, parents and staff at the heart?

Join us on Thursday, 28th January, at 2pm for this insightful free roundtable event, where Headteacher, Luke Payton from Saint Augustine’s Catholic High School and Sixth Form, will explore how Luke reshaped the culture of a high-performing school, re-engaged staff and parents, and maintained exceptional academic standards.

What You Can Expect

During this session, we’ll explore a wide range of topics relevant to school and trust leaders, including:

  • How to get staff buy-in when shifting school culture
  • The role of consistent systems in behaviour and attendance
  • Practical strategies to support staff wellbeing beyond "nice-to-haves"
  • Rebuilding parental trust and community connection
  • What student voice really tells you about your school
  • Leading cultural change in both primary and secondary phases
  • How the Behaviour Hub programme supports real-world improvement
  • Lessons learned – what worked, what didn’t and what Luke would do differently

This will be a live conversation followed by a Q&A session, giving you the opportunity to ask your own questions directly.

Meet our Guest – Luke Payton

Luke is an experienced Headteacher and trained Data Protection Officer with a strong background in MFL, PSHE and behaviour leadership. With a career spanning both primary and secondary education, he brings a deep understanding of the whole school system.

As Principal of Saint Augustine’s Catholic High School and Sixth Form in Worcestershire, Luke has led a cultural transformation rooted in high expectations, authentic relationships and community partnership.

His refreshingly honest approach has seen staff morale rise, parental satisfaction jump by over 40% and outcomes remain amongst the highest in the country – all while embedding a sustainable, inclusive school culture.

What We’ll Explore — and Who It’s For

This event has been designed specifically with school and trust leaders in mind. Whether you're leading on behaviour, attendance, wellbeing or are responsible for shaping whole-school culture, you'll come away with practical insights grounded in lived experience.

If you're a Headteacher, Deputy or Assistant Head, part of a senior leadership team in a primary or secondary setting, or a trust executive supporting multiple schools, this conversation is for you.

Luke will share how Saint Augustine’s reshaped its culture from the inside out – and how these principles can be applied in other schools, no matter your size or context. Through honest discussion and live Q&A, you’ll gain strategies you can apply immediately, such as:

  • Building a culture that supports both well-being and high performance
  • Using behaviour data and student voice to drive meaningful change
  • Re-engaging your parental community after a period of disconnect
  • Embedding simple, sustainable systems that staff actually buy into
  • Learning from the Behaviour Hub model to strengthen your own school’s ethos

This is your opportunity to hear from a leader who’s been there, done the work, and is ready to share the lessons.
