Job Description

We are recruiting for a Chemistry Teacher to join a forward-thinking and academically ambitious secondary school where education extends far beyond exam results. This role is scheduled to begin in January and run through to March, with the possibility of extension, working 3 days a week. The position involves teaching GCSE-level classes for Years 10 and 11, as well as one Year 9 class.

Job Role:
  • Full class teaching responsibilities including planning, preparation, and marking
  • Deliver engaging and challenging lessons across Key Stage 4 (KS4)
  • Assess and monitor student progress to ensure individual achievement
  • Contribute to the development of the Science Department and wider Secondary School community
  • Create an inspiring and safe classroom environment that promotes curiosity and achievement
  • Uphold the school’s high standards of teaching, learning, and behaviour

Required Skills and Experience:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Proven experience teaching Chemistry within a Secondary School setting
  • Excellent subject knowledge of Chemistry and the National Curriculum
  • Strong classroom presence with excellent behaviour management
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students to achieve their full potential
  • Passion for fostering a love of science and learning

This Chemistry Teacher position is based in Edgbaston, easily commutable from Harborne, Moseley, Bournville, Selly Oak, Kings Heath, and Stirchley. The school is accessible by public transport and offers onsite parking for staff.
