Are you an enthusiastic Early Career Teacher (ECT) looking to begin or continue your teaching journey in a supportive Primary School?

A welcoming two-form entry Primary School in Smethwick is seeking a dedicated KS1 Class Teacher to join their team from April through to the end of the academic year in July.

This is a full-time teaching position within Key Stage 1, offering full classroom responsibility including planning, marking, and attending staff meetings. The school is committed to supporting ECTs and can provide the appropriate environment and guidance to help you successfully complete your induction.

In this KS1 Class Teacher role, you will take full ownership of a KS1 class, delivering engaging and creative lessons that support pupils’ academic and personal development. You will be supported by an experienced leadership team and benefit from working within a collaborative two-form entry structure.

This role is ideal for an ECT looking to gain valuable experience in a supportive school, with access to mentoring and professional development opportunities.

As a KS1 Class Teacher, your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning, preparing, and delivering engaging lessons in line with the KS1 curriculum

  • Assessing, recording, and reporting on pupil progress

  • Marking work in line with school policy and providing constructive feedback

  • Managing classroom behaviour effectively and creating a positive learning environment

  • Attending staff meetings, training sessions, and contributing to the wider school community

  • Differentiating learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including those with additional needs

  • Working collaboratively with colleagues within the year group and across the school


To be successful in this ECT role, you will need:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or be due to achieve this by April

  • A strong understanding of the KS1 curriculum

  • A commitment to completing your ECT induction

  • Excellent classroom management and organisational skills

  • A reflective and proactive approach to teaching

  • A passion for supporting children’s learning and development
