A lovely day nursery based in Oldbury is seeking a dedicated Deputy Nursery Manager to join their team on a long-term basis, starting as soon as possible until the end of the academic year, with the potential to become a permanent position from September.

This is a varied and rewarding role where you will support the Nursery Manager in the day-to-day running of the setting, lead and inspire the staff team, and ensure high standards of care and education are consistently met. The nursery has a strong reputation for its nurturing environment, positive staff culture, and child-centred approach.

As a Deputy Nursery Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the Nursery Manager with the daily operation of the nursery.

  • Leading, mentoring, and supporting the early years team to maintain high standards of practice.

  • Acting as SENco, supporting children with additional needs and liaising with parents and external professionals.

  • Ensuring compliance with EYFS, safeguarding, and nursery policies and procedures.

  • Supporting staff development, observations, and assessments.

  • Building positive relationships with parents, carers, and external agencies.

  • Maintaining a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment for all children.


To be successful in this Deputy Nursery Manager role, you will need:

  • A minimum Level 2 qualification in Early Years (Level 3 desirable).

  • Significant experience working within an Early Years or Nursery setting.

  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience within Early Years.

  • A strong understanding of the EYFS framework, safeguarding, and inclusive practice.

  • Experience supporting children with SEND and confidence in fulfilling the SENCo role.

  • Excellent communication, organisation, and team leadership skills.

  • A proactive, caring, and professional approach.
