Job Description

We are currently recruiting for SEND Class Teachers to join a specialist SEN school in the Kitts Green area of Birmingham, this special school caters for pupils aged from 4 up to 18 years of age, The school provides high-quality education with physical disabilities, learning disabilities, and complex needs, such as SLD and ASD within a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment.
 
We are looking for an experienced and dedicated SEND Teacher to join a dynamic SEN setting. In this role, you will deliver high-quality education across Primary and secondary classes, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, including SLD, complex learning difficulties and ASD.
 
In this rewarding role, you will deliver an engaging, differentiated curriculum tailored to pupils’ age, ability, and individual needs, supporting those working below age-related expectations. You will promote emotional regulation, encourage positive behaviour, and help pupils re-engage with learning while working closely with the SENDCo and leadership team to ensure EHCP provision is effectively implemented. The school is an inclusive, forward-thinking specialist setting for pupils aged 4 to 18 with Severe Learning Disabilities, Autism, and Complex Needs. With a growing cohort of nearly over 300 pupils, a recent ‘Good’ Ofsted, and new leadership in place, it offers excellent facilities and a strong multi-agency team. The SEND Teacher Role:
  • Deliver inclusive lessons for pupils with SEND, including SLD, ASD and challenging behaviours
  • Plan and adapt learning to meet EHCP outcomes and individual needs.
  • Track progress and implement targeted interventions.
  • Create a nurturing, trauma-informed classroom environment.
  • Build positive relationships and support behaviour regulation.
  • Work with TAs, SENCOs, parents and external agencies.
  • Manage support staff to maximise pupil outcomes.
  • Maintain safeguarding, records and contribute to EHCP reviews.
 
Required Skills and Experience for this SEND Teacher Role:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS)
  • Experience in roles such as SENCo, SLD Teacher, SEND Teacher, or Inclusion Coordinator
  • Strong understanding of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, including SLD and ASD
  • Experience working in a special school, PRU, or inclusive mainstream setting
  • Familiarity with strategies for managing behaviour and supporting children with emotional and behavioural challenges
  • A nurturing, empathetic, and flexible teaching style
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding practices
