SEN Teacher

Job Description

We are looking for a passionate and committed SEND Teacher to join a welcoming specialist school in South Birmingham, supporting children and young people aged 2–19 with a wide range of additional needs. Pupils at the school have varying needs including Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Autism, complex physical disabilities and communication needs.

As the successful SEND Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering creative, individualised lessons that inspire pupils to reach their full potential. You will work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, therapists and other professionals to provide a nurturing, inclusive environment where every child can thrive academically, socially and emotionally. The school is known for its supportive leadership team, strong collaborative ethos and commitment to ongoing professional development.

This is a full-time position starting in September, continuing for the full academic year.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Previous experience teaching children with SEND, including SLD, PMLD, Autism and complex learning needs (applications from both specialist and mainstream backgrounds are welcomed)
  • A genuine commitment to supporting pupils with additional needs
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • The ability to plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual learning needs
  • Experience completing assessments, monitoring progress and adapting teaching accordingly
  • A passion for raising achievement and celebrating every pupil's successes
  • The ability to create a positive, safe and inclusive learning environment
  • Confidence working alongside Teaching Assistants, therapists, medical professionals and the wider multidisciplinary team

Working for Flourish Education as a Teacher you will receive:

  • £168.80 to £232.57 per day, equating to £32,916 to £45,351 per annum based on working five days a week for a full school year (dependent on experience)

This SEND Teacher opportunity is based in South Birmingham and is easily accessible from Kings Heath, Moseley, Northfield, Selly Oak, Bournville, Stirchley, Kings Norton, Harborne, Edgbaston, Bartley Green, Longbridge and the surrounding areas via car and public transport. On-site parking is also available.
