Job Description

We’re currently recruiting SEND Teachers to work in primary and secondary SEN schools across Erdington and the surrounding area. In this role, you’ll support pupils with a wide range of needs, including ADHD, SEMH, SLD, and complex needs, helping to foster engagement, development, and confidence in a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment.

The SEN Teacher Role:

  • Deliver engaging and inclusive lessons to pupils with a variety of SEND needs, including Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Behavioural, Emotional and Social Difficulties (BESD), Severe Learning Disabilities (SLD), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), and Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD)
  • Support pupils with complex and additional educational needs
  • Adapt learning materials and approaches to suit individual learning styles and EHCP outcomes
  • Build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues
  • Maintain a trauma-informed and nurturing classroom environment
  • Work closely with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs, and external agencies

Required Skills and Experience for this SEND Teacher Role:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS)
  • Experience in roles such as SENCo, ADD/BESD Teacher, MLD Teacher, SEND Teacher, or Inclusion Coordinator
  • Strong understanding of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, including MLD, SLD, PMLD
  • Experience working in a special school, PRU, or inclusive mainstream setting
  • Familiarity with strategies for managing behaviour and supporting children with emotional and behavioural challenges
  • A nurturing, empathetic, and flexible teaching style
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding practices
