Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a SEND Teacher to join a specialist SEN school in the Pershore area of Worcestershire, this special school caters for pupils from early years up to further education years of age, The school provides high-quality education with physical disabilities, learning disabilities, and complex needs, such as SLD and PMLD and ASD within a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment.
 
We are looking for an experienced and dedicated SEND Teacher to join a dynamic SEN setting. In this role, you will deliver high-quality education across Primary and secondary classes, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, including SLD, complex learning difficulties and ASD. 
  
You will work within school policies and teaching standards as an SEN Teacher, supporting early years up to further education pupils with SLD and PMLD whose needs cannot be met in mainstream settings. You will be responsible for planning and delivering differentiated, engaging learning experiences, managing complex needs and challenging behaviours, and promoting emotional regulation and structured learning routines to support each pupil’s development.
 
They are a specialist school offering a broad, bespoke Pathway curriculum, supported by excellent facilities including sensory rooms, soft play, Forest School, and sensory outdoor equipment. The SEN School also includes a residential unit, creating a varied and rewarding teaching environment. You will be part of a supportive team, with ongoing training from a dedicated communication team. The SEN Teacher Role:
  • Deliver inclusive lessons for pupils with SEND, including SLD, PMLD and challenging behaviours
  • Plan and adapt learning to meet EHCP outcomes and individual needs.
  • Track progress and implement targeted interventions.
  • Create a nurturing, trauma-informed classroom environment.
  • Build positive relationships and support behaviour regulation.
  • Work with TAs, SENCOs, parents and external agencies.
  • Manage support staff to maximise pupil outcomes.
  • Maintain safeguarding, records and contribute to EHCP reviews.
 
Required Skills and Experience for this SEND Teacher Role:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS)
  • Experience in roles such as SENCo, SLD Teacher, SEND Teacher, or Inclusion Coordinator
  • Strong understanding of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, including SLD and ASD
  • Experience working in a special school, PRU, or inclusive mainstream setting
  • Familiarity with strategies for managing behaviour and supporting children with emotional and behavioural challenges
  • A nurturing, empathetic, and flexible teaching style
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding practices
