Job Description

We are currently recruiting SEND Teachers to join a specialist SEN school based in the in the Worcester, supporting pupils from years 8 up to 19 years. In this role, you will work with children with a variety of needs, including ASD and SEMH, Non-verbal and further complex and challenging behaviour needs, helping to promote engagement, development, and confidence in a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment. 
 
 In this role, you will deliver high-quality education across mixed aged classes, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, including complex learning difficulties, SEMH, and ASD, you will also support pupils who may present with challenging behaviours or be working below age-related expectations, promoting emotional regulation, positive engagement, and structured routines. This school offers a broad and rich curriculum that promotes both subject knowledge and independence skills, carefully adapted to meet each pupil’s individual needs. Their dedicated staff team ensure every student feels safe, valued, and heard, while building strong relationships with families from initial home visits through to transition beyond school.
 
 
The SEN Teacher Role:
  • Deliver inclusive lessons for pupils with SEND, including SEMH, ASD and complex needs.
  • Plan and adapt learning to meet EHCP outcomes and individual needs.
  • Track progress and implement targeted interventions.
  • Plan, prepare and teach, according to their educational needs, the pupils assigned to them including the setting and marking of work carried out by those pupils
  • Create a nurturing, trauma-informed classroom environment.
  • Build positive relationships and support behaviour regulation.
  • Work with TAs, SENCOs, parents and external agencies.
  • Manage support staff to maximise pupil outcomes.
 
Required Skills and Experience for this SEND Teacher Role:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS)
  • Experience in roles such as SENCo, ASD/SEMH Teacher, SEND Teacher, or Inclusion Coordinator
  • Strong understanding of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, including SEMH and ASD
  • Experience working in a special school, PRU, or inclusive mainstream setting
  • Familiarity with strategies for managing behaviour and supporting children with emotional and behavioural challenges
  • A nurturing, empathetic, and flexible teaching style
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding practices
