Flourish is currently recruiting SEN Teaching Assistants to join specialist SEN schools and alternative provision settings across Birmingham. These roles provides an excellent opportunity to support pupils with a wide range of complex, physical and diverse needs, including Hearing Impairments (HI), Hypermobility, Learning Difficulties (LD/MLD), Multiple Sensory Impairments (MSI), Non-Verbal Learning Disorders (NLD), and Physical Disabilities (PD).

The SEN Teaching Assistant Role:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND including HI, LD, MLD, MSI, NLD, and physical disabilities
  • Implement strategies to support behaviour, emotional regulation and individual learning outcomes
  • Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs and external professionals to meet EHCP goals
  • Help create a safe, inclusive and stimulating learning environment
  • Support pupils with personal care or physical needs, where required
  • Promote independence, confidence and resilience in learners
We welcome applications from candidates with experience in any of the following roles:
  • SEN Teaching Assistant, SEND TA, Learning Support Assistant (LSA), Teaching Assistant, 1:1 TA, Behaviour Mentor
  • Experience working in a special school, PRU, alternative provision or inclusive mainstream school
  • Strong understanding of SEND, particularly in supporting pupils with Hearing Impairments (HI), Hypermobility, Learning Difficulties (LD/MLD), Multiple Sensory Impairments (MSI), Non-Verbal Learning Disorders (NLD), and Physical Disabilities (PD).
  • Empathetic, adaptable and resilient approach
  • Excellent behaviour management strategies
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
