Job Description

We are seeking dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to join a SEN school supporting Key Stage 4 students (Years 10–11). The site has nine classrooms for small groups of 3–4 learners, with each group taught by a teacher and, where needed, supported by a Teaching Assistant to where Staffing ratios are set to ensure safe, effective support.
 
Students follow a differentiated Key Stage 4 curriculum, including core subjects, Humanities, PE, ICT, Health and Social Care, PHSE, and the Careers Steps Programme. The school also focuses on emotional literacy, communication, and social skills, encouraging safe peer interactions through breaks, social skills sessions, and supported academic lessons.
 
The school supports pupils with BESD, SEMH, SLD, ASD, and ADHD, providing a structured, nurturing environment where every learner can thrive.

Required Skills and Experience:
  • Experience supporting pupils with BESD, SEMH, SLD, ASD, and ADHD.
  • Knowledge of Key Stage 4 and ability to support a differentiated curriculum.
  • Experience in a special school, PRU, or inclusive setting.
  • Familiarity with positive behaviour strategies and supporting emotional and social needs.
  • Confidence in adapting learning activities to individual targets.
  • Ability to support small groups and safe peer interactions.
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain).
  • Up-to-date safeguarding knowledge.

The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will receive a £150 welcome bonus*, paid automatically once you’ve completed 30 consecutive working days in your role. *Bonus applies to this full-time role only, and terms and conditions apply.

  • £88.92 - £120 per day depending on experience, which equates to £17,940 - £23,400 based on working 5 days a week for a full school year

We are currently supporting a specialist Key Stage 4 SEN school near Erdington, Birmingham, dedicated to meeting the needs of students with a range of complex learning needs, including BESD, SEMH, SLD, ASD, and ADHD. The school offers a nurturing environment with six classrooms for teaching and intervention, as well as a small hall for group activities and dining.
