We are currently seeking dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to join a specialist SEN school in the Oldbury area, supporting children with SLD, PMLD, ASD, and complex needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of pupils who require a high level of care, consistency, and encouragement.
In this role, you will support pupils in a structured, nurturing environment with small class sizes and carefully planned staffing ratios to ensure safe and effective support. You will assist with learning, communication, emotional regulation, and daily routines, helping pupils to access the curriculum and develop independence.
The school places a strong emphasis on emotional wellbeing, communication, and sensory-based learning, with pupils supported through tailored interventions, small group activities, and structured routines throughout the day.
This role is ideal for someone who is patient, compassionate, and confident in supporting children with additional and complex needs. You will work closely with class teachers and the wider SEN team to create a safe, motivating, and inclusive learning environment for every pupil.
The Role:
- Supporting pupils with SLD, PMLD, ASD, and complex needs
- Working 1:1 and in small groups
- Assisting with personal care, sensory activities, and daily routines where required
- Supporting communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation
- Working closely with teachers and the wider SEN team
Required Skills and Experience for this SEN TA Role
- Experience supporting children with SLD, PMLD, ASD, or complex needs
- Previous experience in an SEN school, specialist provision, or inclusive setting
- A calm, patient, and nurturing approach
- Confidence supporting individual learning targets and EHCP outcomes
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection
- Hold a Level 2 or 3 Qualification in Teaching Assistant
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
