Are you an experienced and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a part-time role supporting a primary school pupil next term?

A friendly and inclusive primary school in Brierley Hill is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to work 3 days per week on a 1:1 basis with a Year 3 student, supporting their SEMH needs.

This SEN Teaching Assistant role is classroom-based, helping the pupil access learning and feel secure in a supportive school environment. The position is to start after Easter, and continue until July 2026.

 

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 support for a Year 3 student with SEMH needs.
  • Supporting communication, engagement, and learning using appropriate strategies.
  • Assisting with transitions, routines, and daily tasks to help the pupil feel confident and secure.
  • Promoting a calm, safe, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Collaborating closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and wider support staff to meet the pupil’s needs effectively.


To be successful in this SEN Teaching Assistant role, you will need:

  • Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant or supporting children with additional needs.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEMH or moderate behavioural needs.
  • A calm, patient, and nurturing approach.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • A proactive, reliable, and flexible attitude.
