Job Description

We are recruiting a committed SEND Teaching Assistant to join a secondary school in South Birmingham, working within a dedicated SEND Hub. Flourish Education is seeking an experienced and supportive individual to work full-time on a long-term basis, supporting KS3 and KS4 pupils with complex needs to access learning in a structured and nurturing environment. This role is well suited to someone who works effectively alongside the SENCO, teaching staff and pastoral teams to provide consistent, targeted support.

You will be working with students across Key Stage 3 (KS3) and Key Stage 4 (KS4) from Easter through to the end of the Summer term. The role focuses on supporting pupils with a range of complex needs, helping them to engage with tailored learning activities, build confidence and develop their social and emotional skills within the SEND Hub. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students’ progress while contributing positively to the wider school community.

Key Responsibilities
• Assist with lesson delivery and support learning activities planned by teachers
• Provide one-to-one or small group support for pupils with additional needs
• Support pupils in accessing the curriculum and maintaining engagement across KS3 and KS4
• Encourage positive behaviour and participation within lessons
• Support pupils with organisation, routines, and emotional regulation where needed
• Record observations and contribute to monitoring and reporting pupil progress
• Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, and pastoral staff
• Take part in relevant professional development and training
• Help maintain an inclusive, safe, and supportive learning environment

Essential Skills and Experience
• Experience as SEND Support, Teaching Assistant, or Learning Support Assistant in a secondary school
• Experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs is highly desirable
• Patient, calm, and supportive approach when working with students
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Commitment to promoting inclusion and pupil wellbeing

From £92.56 per day or £18049.2 per year to £100 a day or £19,500 a year
 

Location
This SEND Support role is based in South Birmingham, supporting students across KS3 and KS4. The school is easily accessible from surrounding areas with good transport links and on-site parking.
