The SEN Teaching Assistant Role:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND, including those with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/LD), non-verbal learners, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and pupils displaying challenging behaviours or Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).Implement strategies to support behaviour, emotional regulation and individual learning outcomes
- Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs and external professionals to meet EHCP goals
- Help create a safe, inclusive and stimulating learning environment
- Support pupils with personal care or physical needs, where required
- Promote independence, confidence and resilience in learners
We welcome applications from candidates with experience in any of the following roles:
- SEN Teaching Assistant, SEND TA, Learning Support Assistant (LSA), Teaching Assistant, 1:1 TA, Behaviour Mentor
- Experience working in a special school, PRU, alternative provision or inclusive mainstream school
- Strong understanding of SEND, with particular expertise in supporting pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/LD), non-verbal learners, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and those displaying challenging behaviours or Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).Empathetic, adaptable and resilient approach
- Excellent behaviour management strategies
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Relevant training such as Team Teach, Makaton or PECS is desirable but not essential
