Job Description

We are currently seeking SEN Teaching Assistants to join a specialist SEN school based in the Dudley area. This role involves supporting pupils with SLD, PMLD, ASD, PD, VI,HI and a range of complex needs, offering a truly rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact on pupils’ daily lives.

You will work within a structured and nurturing school environment, benefiting from small class sizes and carefully planned staffing ratios that allow for high-quality, individualised support. Your role will include assisting pupils with learning activities, communication, emotional regulation, and personal care routines, helping them to access the curriculum and build confidence and independence.

The school places a strong focus on emotional wellbeing, communication development, and sensory-based learning. Pupils are supported through tailored interventions, small group work, and consistent daily routines designed to meet their individual needs.

This position is ideal for someone who is patient, empathetic, and confident in supporting children with additional and complex needs. You will work closely with class teachers and the wider SEN team to create a safe, inclusive, and motivating learning environment where every pupil is supported to thrive.
 
The SEN Teaching Assistant Role:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND including Profound Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD),  Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Serve Learning disabilities  (SLD), and Physical Disabilities  (PD)  
  • Implement strategies to support behaviour, emotional regulation and individual learning outcomes
  • Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs and external professionals to meet EHCP goals
  • Help create a safe, inclusive and stimulating learning environment
  • Support pupils with personal care or physical needs, where required
  • Promote independence, confidence and resilience in learners
 We welcome applications from candidates with experience in any of the following roles:
  • SEN Teaching Assistant, SEND TA, Learning Support Assistant (LSA), Teaching Assistant, 1:1 TA, Behaviour Mentor  
  • Experience working in a special school, PRU, alternative provision or inclusive mainstream school
  • Strong understanding of SEND, particularly supporting pupils with Profound Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), Behavioural, Emotional and Social Difficulties (BESD), Serve Learning Disbailites (SLD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)   
  • Empathetic, adaptable and resilient approach
  • Excellent behaviour management strategies
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Relevant training such as Team Teach, Makaton or PECS is desirable but not essential

The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will receive a £150 welcome bonus*, paid automatically once you’ve completed 30 consecutive working days in your role. *Bonus applies to this full-time role only, and terms and conditions apply.

  • £92.56 - £100 per day depending on experience, which equates to £18,409.2 - £23,400 based on working 5 days a week for a full school year
