Are you an experienced and resilient SEND Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding full-time role from September?

Flourish Education are working in partnership with a welcoming Primary School in Dudley, who are seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis from September.

This full-time Teaching Assistant position involves providing 1:1 support for a child in Year 3 with ADHD and behavioural needs. The child is currently working at a Key Stage 1 level and requires consistent support to access learning, remain engaged in lessons, and develop positive behaviour strategies throughout the school day. Previous experience supporting children with challenging behaviour is essential for this role.

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and any external professionals involved with the pupil to provide tailored support that meets the child's academic, social, and emotional needs. The school is looking for a patient, confident, and proactive individual who can build strong relationships and provide consistent encouragement while maintaining clear boundaries.

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 3 pupil with ADHD and behavioural needs.

  • Supporting the child to access learning activities that are tailored to their Key Stage 1 attainment level.

  • Implementing behaviour management strategies to encourage positive engagement and minimise disruption.

  • Adapting learning activities to meet the pupil's individual learning needs and abilities.

  • Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive participation in classroom activities.

  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement support plans and individual targets.

  • Monitoring progress and providing feedback on the child's academic, behavioural, and emotional development.

  • Supporting the pupil's social and emotional wellbeing throughout the school day.

  • Promoting a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.


Required Skills and Experience for this SEND Teaching Assistant role:

  • A minimum Level 2 qualification in a relevant field.

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEND within a primary school setting.

  • Experience working with children who display challenging behaviours and implementing effective behaviour management strategies.

  • Knowledge and understanding of ADHD and how to support pupils with additional behavioural needs.

  • A patient, resilient, and nurturing approach.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.

  • A proactive attitude and willingness to adapt support to meet individual needs.

  • A DBS on the Update Service or issued within the last 12 months.

  • A minimum of two excellent professional references.
