We are looking for reliable, patient and supportive individuals who can build positive relationships with pupils and work effectively alongside teachers and wider school staff. Experience supporting pupils with SEND is desirable, although candidates with relevant experience working with children or young people will also be considered.
The Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities may include:
- Providing one-to-one and small group support to pupils with additional needs
- Supporting pupils to access the curriculum and complete learning activities
- Working alongside teachers to provide targeted support
- Supporting pupils with SEND, including behavioural, learning and social needs
- Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement in lessons
- Helping pupils develop confidence, independence and social skills
- Supporting pupils with organisation and classroom routines
- Adapting activities and resources to meet individual learning needs
- Building positive and professional relationships with pupils
- Providing support across KS3 and KS4
- Contributing to a safe, inclusive and supportive classroom environment
Required Skills and Experience
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or SEND Support Worker is desirable
- Experience supporting pupils with SEND is highly desirable
- Experience working with children or young people
- A patient, calm and supportive approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils
- Reliable and professional approach to work
- A genuine interest in supporting young people and their education
