Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant passionate about supporting children with additional needs?

Flourish Education are working closely with a welcoming Primary School in West Bromwich, who are seeking a dedicated SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support in their SEN Resource Base.

This is a full-time, long-term position, starting in May, and continuing until July, offering the opportunity to make a meaningful impact during a crucial stage of a child’s development. This position is potentially extending in September for the full academic year. 


As a SEN Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
  • Provide tailored 1:1 support to a Year 2 child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and behavioural needs
  • Support the child’s learning, emotional regulation, and social development
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider SEN team to implement individual support strategies
  • Help maintain a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment
  • Support the child both within the SEN Resource Base and in classroom-based activities where appropriate

Required Skills and Experience for this SEN Teaching Assistant role:
  • A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
  • Previous experience supporting children with ASD, ideally on a 1:1 basis
  • Confidence in managing and reducing challenging behaviour using positive behaviour strategies
  • The ability to build strong, trusting relationships with young children
  • Good knowledge of the Key Stage 1 curriculum
  • A DBS on the update service, or issued within the last 12 months
  • A minimum of two excellent references
