Are you an experienced and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a part-time role starting after the Easter break?

A welcoming Primary School in Malvern is seeking a committed and patient SEN Teaching Assistant to support a child on a 1:1 basis in a Year 3 classroom from after Easter through to the end of the academic year in July.

This SEN Teaching Assistant role is a part-time position, working 3 days per week, providing dedicated support to a child with autism. The child is currently working at a lower level, so a strong understanding of the Key Stage 1 curriculum is essential.

In this SEN Teaching Assistant role, you will play a vital part in supporting the child’s academic, social, and emotional development, helping them to access learning within a classroom environment. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to ensure the child receives consistent and structured support.

This school is looking for an experienced, nurturing, and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant who has a calm and patient approach and can build strong relationships.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 support for a pupil with autism within the classroom.
  • Adapting learning activities to meet the child’s individual needs.
  • Supporting the child’s engagement with the Key Stage 1 curriculum.
  • Implementing strategies to support communication, behaviour, and emotional regulation.
  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to follow support plans.
  • Encouraging independence and confidence in learning.
  • Promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.


To be successful in this SEN Teaching Assistant role, you will need:

  • A minimum Level 2 qualification in a relevant field.
  • Previous experience working with children with SEN, particularly autism.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Key Stage 1 curriculum.
  • A patient, calm, and nurturing approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
