A friendly and supportive 2-form entry Primary School in Rowley Regis is seeking a committed and nurturing SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September on a long-term basis until February 2027.
This SEN Teaching Assistant role is a full-time position, providing targeted support to a child in Year 3 with speech and language needs during the mornings. This support will take place within the school's SEN provision room, where you will work closely with the child to help them access learning and develop their communication skills. In the afternoons, you will provide general classroom support within a Year 1 class, assisting the teacher and supporting pupils across the classroom.
In this SEN Teaching Assistant role, you will play a key part in supporting the child’s academic, social, and communication development, while also contributing to the wider learning environment within Year 1. You will work closely with the class teachers, SENCO, and other support staff to ensure pupils receive consistent and effective support throughout the school day.
This 2-form Primary school is looking for an experienced, patient, and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant who has previous experience supporting children with additional needs, particularly speech and language difficulties, and who can build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

Providing targeted support for a Year 3 pupil with speech and language needs within the SEN provision room.

Implementing strategies and interventions to support communication and language development.

Supporting the pupil's engagement, confidence, and independence in learning.

Working closely with the SENCO and teaching staff to follow support plans and targets.

Monitoring progress and providing feedback to relevant staff members.

Supporting teaching and learning activities within a Year 1 classroom during the afternoons.

Assisting with classroom organisation and preparation of learning resources.

Promoting a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
To be successful in this SEN Teaching Assistant role, you will need:

A minimum Level 2 qualification

Previous experience working with children with SEN, particularly speech and language needs.

A good understanding of strategies to support communication and language development.

A patient, calm, and nurturing approach.

Strong communication and teamwork skills.

The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, parents, and staff.

A proactive attitude and willingness to support across different year groups.
