We are currently recruiting for SEN Teaching Assistants who are looking to support Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a welcoming and inclusive school environment. This SEN Teaching Assistant opportunity is ideal for those seeking a better work life balance, with day-to-day supply giving you full control over your schedule. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will gain valuable experience supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, working closely with Class Teachers and wider school staff. JOB ROLE:

  • Supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Working closely with the Class Teacher to deliver tailored learning activities that meet individual needs
  • Encouraging pupils to engage in learning and develop their confidence, independence, and social skills
  • Supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Speech and Language needs, SEMH, and other learning difficulties
  • Implementing personalised support strategies and following Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) where appropriate
  • Helping to prepare classroom resources and maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment
  • Supporting positive behaviour and promoting emotional wellbeing throughout the school day
  • Adapting quickly to different school environments and individual pupil needs on a day-to-day basis
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Previous UK school experience is essential
  • Experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant, Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Classroom Assistant, or Support Worker
  • Experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
  • A good understanding of Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, Speech and Language needs, or other additional learning needs is desirable
  • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential
  • Experience supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and within small group interventions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a patient, caring, and adaptable approach
  • The ability to work collaboratively with Class Teachers and other professionals while using your own initiative when required
  • A genuine passion for helping children and young people achieve their full potential

This SEN Teaching Assistant position is based in South Birmingham and is easily commutable from Northfield, Kings Norton, Bartley Green, Kings Heath, Selly Oak, and Longbridge. The schools benefit from excellent transport links and many offer onsite parking.
