A welcoming Primary School in West Bromwich is seeking a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September for two terms initially.

This SEN role is ideal for an experienced Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and can build positive relationships to help pupils thrive both academically and emotionally.

The successful candidate will provide dedicated 1:1 support for a child in Year 2 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them to access learning and engage positively within the classroom environment.

The Primary school is looking for someone who is patient, nurturing, and able to implement strategies that support emotional regulation, positive behaviour, and social development.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

• Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 2 pupil with SEMH needs.

• Supporting the pupil to access learning activities and engage with the curriculum.

• Implementing behaviour support strategies in line with the school's policies and individual support plans.

• Building a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil to promote confidence and independence.

• Supporting the pupil's emotional wellbeing, social development, and self-regulation skills.

• Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals to ensure the pupil's needs are met.

• Monitoring and recording progress, behaviour, and engagement where required.

• Encouraging positive interactions with peers and supporting inclusion within the classroom.

• Helping to create a safe, supportive, and nurturing learning environment.

To be successful in this SEN Teaching Assistant role, you will need:

• Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or SEN Teaching Assistant.

• Experience supporting children with SEMH needs or other additional needs.

• A calm, patient, and resilient approach.

• Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills.

• The ability to adapt support strategies to meet individual needs.

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

• A flexible, reliable, and professional attitude.

• A genuine passion for supporting children to achieve their full potential.
