SEN Teaching Assistant

Job Description

Flourish Education are recruiting for a teaching assistant to work in a Key Stage Two class in a school in the Kingswinford area. The school are seeking an experienced teaching assistant to work with the class in a single-form entry school, supporting a smaller group of pupils with additional needs (including Global Delay and Autism).

The role would involve working full time (8.30 to 3.30) across a 5-day working week. The position is a long-term role post.

Job role

  • Working as a teaching assistant within a Key Stage Two class.
  • Supporting pupils on a one-to-one or small group basis as required.
  • Supporting the class when not working with smaller groups.
  • Liaise with the class teacher, SENCO and other agencies to meet the needs of the pupil.
  • Working between 8.30 to 3.30pm on a daily basis

Required skills and experience

  • A valid Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) or Teaching Assistant (Level 2 or 3) qualification
  • Previous experience supporting with SEN needs
  • Nurturing and supportive approach to working with young people.
  • A DBS on the update service or issued in the last 12 months.
  • Minimum of 2 excellent references required.

The teacher role is based in the Stourbridge area so is easily reached by public transport from Kingswinford, Dudley and Brierley Hill. For those travelling by car, the school is accessible from Dudley, Hagley, Halesowen, Wombourne, Oldbury and Kidderminster.
