We’re currently recruiting for a passionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to work in local SEN Schools in Telford. This role offers the chance to support pupils with complex needs including SEMH, MLD, SLD, PMLD, and other Additional Educational Needs.

The SEN Teaching Assistant Role:
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND including SEMH, MLD, SLD, and PMLD
  • Implement strategies to support behaviour, emotional regulation and individual learning outcomes
  • Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs and external professionals to meet EHCP goals
  • Help create a safe, inclusive and stimulating learning environment
  • Support pupils with personal care or physical needs, where required
  • Promote independence, confidence and resilience in learners
We welcome applications from candidates with experience in any of the following roles:
  • SEN Teaching Assistant, SEND TA, Learning Support Assistant (LSA), Teaching Assistant, 1:1 TA, Behaviour Mentor
  • Experience working in a special school, PRU, alternative provision or inclusive mainstream school
  • Strong understanding of SEND, particularly supporting pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs (SEMH), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
  • Empathetic, adaptable and resilient approach
  • Excellent behaviour management strategies
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Relevant training such as Team Teach, Makaton or PECS is desirable but not essential
