SEN Teaching Assistant

Job Description

Flourish Education are seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant to work on a full-time basis at an OFSTED rated ‘good’ primary school in Gloucester. The school are looking to recruit an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to provide one-to-one support for a child in Reception wwith an EHCP. You must have recent experience of working within the EYFS (either in Reception or Nursery). Previous experience of using BSL or Makaton to support with Speech and Language would be of an advantage.

The school have no behaviour concerns, and have reported that the child needing support is very happy and engaged in activities. The child has been diagnosed with autism and global delay, and the successful SEN Teaching Assistant will support the child to develop their communication, and to form friendships with others. The school are looking for candidates who are willing to commit to a long-term position to ensure consistency for the child and their family.

This role is to start as soon as possible, and will potentially continue until the child requiring support finishes their Primary Education.

Required Skills and Experience for this SEN Teaching Assistant role:

  • Level 2 Teaching Assistant Qualification or equivalent
  • Secure knowledge of the EYFS
  • Experience of working with children with SEN
  • Committed to a long-term post (could potentially be a long-term role until the child finishes at primary school)

This SEN Teaching Assistant opportunity is located in Gloucester, and is easily commutable from the surrounding areas including Quedgeley, Tewkesbury, Cinderford and Cheltenham. The school has an onsite carpark, and is easily accessible via public transport.
