We're currently recruiting for SEN Teaching Assistants who are passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people across local SEN schools in Walsall. Do you have the compassion, resilience, and skills to support pupils with a range of complex needs, including SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties), BESD (Behavioural, Emotional and Social Difficulties), Cognition and Learning needs, non-verbal communication, and challenging behaviour? The SEN Teaching Assistant Role
  • Being a consistent and supportive character that will be comfortable supporting groups of pupils or provide 1:1 support.
  • Every day will be different so you will be implementing your own strategies to help support in an ever-changing SEN environment with different behavioural and emotional needs, often working closely with class teachers and working towards EHCPs
  • Potentially providing personal care of physical needs.
  • We want positive change, so not only will you support pupils needs, but also promote some independence and help them to develop where possible.
We want to hear from candidates with experience in:
  • SEN schools – with a strong understanding of challenges faced.
  • Pupil Referral Units / Alternative Educational Provisions.
  • Have experience in challenging educational settings.
  • Have demonstrated resilience and empathy.
  • Showing adaptability and uniqueness in the way you manage difficult situations.
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service or a willingness to obtain one.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you’ll have the opportunity to work in a range of specialist schools across the Walsall area. These schools are well-equipped, supportive, and dedicated to meeting the diverse needs of their pupils. Many offer on-site parking and are easily accessible from surrounding areas such as Wolverhampton, Cannock, West Bromwich, Dudley, Lichfield, Sutton Coldfield, and Birmingham.
