Job Description

Flourish is recruiting SEND Teaching Assistants to join a specialist school in the Worcester area. The school supports children with a range of additional needs and provides a highly nurturing and personalised learning environment for every pupil.
 
The school has three different types of rooms, each designed to support varying SEN needs, with a maximum of up to four children in each class. Most pupils receive either 2:1 or 1:1 support to help them access learning and develop both academically and socially. All children attending the school have an EHCP in place.
 
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils throughout the school day, both inside and outside the classroom, helping to deliver tailored learning and emotional support. You will work closely with teachers and the wider staff team to provide a safe, engaging, and positive environment where children can thrive at their own pace.
 
The school benefits from a large outdoor area, allowing pupils to take part in outdoor learning, sensory activities, and structured play throughout the day. Staff are encouraged to build positive relationships with pupils and support them with communication, emotional regulation, and daily routines.
 
This role would suit individuals who are patient, caring, and genuinely passionate about working with children with SEN needs. The school is looking for staff who are committed to making a positive difference and are happy to work in a supportive specialist setting.
 
Working hours for this role are 8:45am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday.
 
The SEN Teaching Assistant Role:
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND, including those with SLD, and SEMH
  • Implement strategies to support behaviour, emotional regulation and individual learning outcomes  
  • Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs and external professionals to meet EHCP goals
  • Help create a safe, inclusive and stimulating learning environment
  • Support pupils with personal care or physical needs, where required
  • Promote independence, confidence and resilience in learners
We welcome applications from candidates with experience in any of the following roles:
  • SEN Teaching Assistant, SLD TA, Learning Support Assistant (LSA), Teaching Assistant, 1:1 TA, Behaviour Mentor 
  • Experience working in a special school, PRU, alternative provision or inclusive mainstream school
  • Strong understanding of SEND, particularly supporting pupils with SLD, SEMH and ASD
  • Empathetic, adaptable and resilient approach
  • Excellent behaviour management strategies
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Relevant training such as Team Teach, Makaton or PECS is desirable but not essential
