The SEN Teaching Assistant Role:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including those with SEMH, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, Non-Verbal Communication Needs, and Physical Disabilities (PD).
- Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs and external professionals to meet EHCP goals
- Help create a safe, inclusive and stimulating learning environment
- Support pupils with personal care or physical needs, where required
- Promote independence, confidence and resilience in learners
- Experience in providing personal care to pupils, supporting their daily needs with dignity and respect.
We welcome applications from candidates with experience in any of the following roles:
- SEN Teaching Assistant, SEND TA, Learning Support Assistant (LSA), Teaching Assistant, 1:1 TA, Behaviour Mentor
- Experience working in a special school, PRU, alternative provision or inclusive mainstream school
- Strong understanding of SEND, particularly supporting pupils with SEMH, Physical Disabilities (PD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and Non-Verbal Communication Needs. Skilled in promoting emotional regulation and individual learning outcomes with an empathetic, adaptable, and resilient approach.
- Excellent behaviour management strategies
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Relevant training such as Team Teach, Makaton or PECS is desirable but not essential
