SEND Teaching Assistant

Job Description

Flourish Education are currently recruiting for a Teaching assistant to work in a Primary School located in King Norton, Birmingham. The school want to recruit a Teaching Assistant to work full time with a group of children across KS1, this class contains a wide variety of children with SEND, with a range of diagnosed and undiagnosed, needs include Autism, ADHD, and ASD. Our client is a Primary school who value a supportive staff team who work collaboratively to instil confidence and independence in in learners.

Responsibilities as a KS1 SEND Teaching Assistant will include working in small groups and 1:1 with children with SEND. Preparing resources, maintaining good behaviour, and minimising disruptions. The school requires a Teaching Assistant who is committed and uses initiative to help where required.

This is a full-time Teaching Assistant role and is to start immediately and is expected to continue until the end of the academic year.

Required Skills and Experience for this Teaching Assistant role:

  • Minimum Level 2 Qualification
  • Experience working in primary schools and or nursery settings.
  • Knowledge of KS1 curriculum
  • Previous experience working with children with SEND.
  • The ability to contribute to create a safe, engaging, and positive learning environment.
  • To be able to work effectively and efficiently alongside the class teacher.
  • Empathetic and supportive towards students and staff

This Teaching Assistant role is based at a school in Kings Norton which is easily accessible from Hawkesley, Northfield, West Heath, Cotteridge, Bournville, Stirchley, Kings Heath, Billesley and Druids Heath. The school can be accessed easily by bus and there is an onsite car park available.
