Job Description

Flourish Education are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant who has previous experience supporting children in a resource base. This school is located in Quinton,  this role is due to start ASAP until the end of the academic year. 

Our client wants to appoint a passionate Teaching Assistant to work with children with SEN. Responsibilities in this role include supporting pupils either on a 1:1 basis or in small groups within the school’s dedicated resource base. This will involve helping children with their individual targets and enabling them to access classroom learning. Some of the children are non-verbal so experience with Makaton Level 1 would be an advantage, but is not essential. Personal care may be required.

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for:
• Providing 1:1 support for a pupil within an Autism Resource Base
• Supporting communication, social interaction and emotional regulation
• Adapting learning activities to meet individual needs
• Implementing personalised support strategies and interventions
• Working collaboratively with teaching staff and the SEND team
• Ensuring safeguarding and welfare policies are strictly followed

Required Skills and Experience needed as a SEND Teaching Assistant:
• Experience supporting children with Autism and additional needs
• Experience working within a Primary School or specialist provision
• A patient, nurturing and consistent approach
• Strong understanding of SEND support strategies
• Recent experience working within a UK school setting

This position is at a school located in Quinton, which is easily commutable from  Harborne, Northfield, Frankley, Selly Oak and Kings Norton The school offers onsite parking and is well-connected by public transport.
