SEND Teaching Assistant

Job Description

Flourish Education are recruiting for a SEND Teaching Assistant to join a Primary School in the Bartley Green area. This is a long-term role, available on either a full-time basis or 4 days per week, working within the school's SEND classroom provision supporting children with a range of additional needs from Reception through to Year 6.

You will work as part of an experienced SEND team alongside a SEND Teacher and two experienced SEND Teaching Assistants, supporting up to 12 pupils throughout the school day, including some lunchtime support. The school is looking for a compassionate, adaptable and proactive Teaching Assistant who is confident supporting children with complex SEND needs.

Responsibilities as a SEND Teaching Assistant:
· Supporting pupils with Autism, SEMH and additional learning needs
· Working within the school's SEND classroom provision alongside the SEND team
· Providing communication support using strategies such as Makaton, communication boards and Intensive Interaction
· Supporting pupils with personal care where required
· Helping to create a calm, safe and engaging learning environment
· Following EHCP targets and the school's policies and procedures

Required Skills and Experience:
· Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable
· Experience supporting children with complex SEND needs
· Experience with Autism, SEMH and learning needs
· Knowledge of communication strategies including Makaton, communication boards or Intensive Interaction is desirable
· Comfortable providing personal care
