Flourish Education is working with a welcoming primary school in Coventry that is looking for an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026.

The school has a dedicated SEND Resource Base, and this is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working closely with children with additional needs and wants to be part of a supportive and experienced team.

The role will initially run until January 2027, with the potential for the position to be extended.

You will be supporting pupils within the school's Resource Base, as well as helping them access learning alongside their peers. The role will involve a mixture of 1:1 and small-group support, depending on the needs of the children. Personal care may also be required.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEND
  • Supporting children with Autism and other additional needs
  • Helping pupils access their learning and achieve their individual targets
  • Supporting communication, social skills and emotional regulation
  • Adapting activities and resources to suit individual needs
  • Supporting personalised interventions
  • Encouraging pupils to develop their confidence and independence
  • Working closely with class teachers, Teaching Assistants and the SEND team
  • Supporting children both within the Resource Base and mainstream classroom
  • Providing personal care where required

Some pupils within the Resource Base are non-verbal, so experience with Makaton Level 1 would be an advantage, but this is not essential.

We'd like to hear from Teaching Assistants who have:
  • Previous experience supporting children with SEND and Autism
  • Experience working within a primary school, specialist setting or Resource Base
  • A good understanding of supporting children with additional needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A calm, patient and consistent approach
  • The ability to build positive relationships with children
  • Good behaviour management skills
  • Recent experience working within a UK school

Most importantly, you'll need to be someone who is reliable, approachable and genuinely enjoys working with children.

  • £92.56–£95.00 per day, depending on experience

The school is based in Coventry and is easily commutable from surrounding areas including Allesley, Tile Hill, Eastern Green, Foleshill, Walsgrave, Binley and surrounding areas. The school has good public transport links and onsite parking is available.
