As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside a supportive team, assisting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in Key Stage 1 (KS1) and Key Stage 2 (KS2). As a SEND Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide 1-1 and small group support to children with SEND, including Autism, ADHD, ASD, and Challenging Behaviour.
  • Assist the Class Teacher in implementing the National Curriculum for Key Stage 1 (KS1) and Key Stage 2 (KS2).
  • Create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment for students with a range of learning needs.
  • Support the social, emotional, and academic development of children with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs.
  • Work closely with parents and external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for students.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience working in a UK Primary School, ideally in a SEND role.
  • Proven experience supporting children with SEND, particularly those with Autism, ADHD, ASD, Challenging Behaviour, and SEMH.
  • Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent.
  • Understanding of the National Curriculum, particularly in Key Stage 1 (KS1) and Key Stage 2 (KS2).
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, supporting the Class Teacher and other TAs.
  • Strong communication skills and a compassionate approach to supporting children's individual needs.
