Are you a compassionate and experienced SEND Teaching Assistant looking for a full-time role starting as soon as possible?

A supportive and inclusive Primary School in Smethwick is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team immediately through to the end of the academic year in July.

This is a full-time position based within the school’s SEN resource base, supporting children with a range of complex additional needs.

In this role, you will primarily work on a 1:1 basis with a Year 1 pupil, providing tailored support to meet their individual needs. You will also support within the SEN hub when required, working alongside a small group of 9 pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 with needs including ASD, MLD, and physical disabilities.

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
  • Providing 1:1 support for a Year 1 pupil with complex additional needs.
  • Supporting other pupils within the SEN resource base when required.
  • Assisting with personal care and mobility where necessary.
  • Supporting pupils with ASD, MLD, and physical disabilities.
  • Promoting a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement support strategies.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour, independence, and communication skills.

To be successful in this SEND Teaching Assistant role, you will need:
  • Previous experience working with children with SEND, particularly complex needs.
  • Experience supporting pupils with ASD, MLD, and/or physical disabilities.
  • A calm, patient, and adaptable approach.
  • Confidence supporting on a 1:1 basis as well as within small groups.
  • A strong commitment to safeguarding and supporting vulnerable pupils.
  • Availability to work full-time from as soon as possible until July.
