SEND Teaching Assistant

Job Description

We are recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant role to work in the Stourbridge area in a 2-form entry “GOOD” OFSTED rated Primary School. This classroom-based role is to work on a 1:1 basis with a child in Key Stage One with complex needs, and Autism.

Our client is looking for a candidate with previous experience working with Autistic pupils, and any additional qualifications around SEND would be desirable. 

This role is to start in January 2026, after the Christmas break, until May 2026 with the potential to extend until Summer.  As a SEN teaching assistant you will be supporting the child’s communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, and behaviour, implementing agreed support plans and recognising sensory needs to help maintain a calm and inclusive learning environment

The SEN Teaching Assistant will encourage independence, and support the child during transitions throughout the school day. Ongoing observation, record-keeping, and contribution to reviews and planning meetings will be required, alongside effective collaboration with staff and external professionals. 

Required Skills and Experience for this SEN Teaching Assistant role
  • Hold a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification
  • Good knowledge and experience of working with SEND
  • Experience working in Nurseries or Primary Schools as a Teaching Assistant or LSA
  • A DBS on the update service or issued in the last 12 months
  • A minimum of 2 excellent references
