Are you a compassionate and experienced SEND Teaching Assistant looking for a full-time role?

A supportive and inclusive Primary School in Worcester is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team from as soon as possible through to the end of the academic year in July.

This is a full-time SEND Teaching Assistant position based within the school’s SEN hub, providing 1:1 support for a Year 2 pupil with severe Autism.

In this SEND Teaching Assistant role, you will play a vital part in supporting the child’s learning, communication, and overall development. You will also supervise and engage the pupil during playtimes, ensuring a safe and structured environment that meets their individual needs.

This Primary school is looking for a patient, resilient, and proactive SEND Teaching Assistant who has experience working with children with complex needs and a strong understanding of Autism and specialist communication approaches.

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 2 pupil with severe Autism.
  • Supporting learning through tailored strategies and structured activities.
  • Supervising and supporting the pupil during play and unstructured times.
  • Using appropriate communication methods, including an understanding of ASL, to support interaction and engagement.
  • Promoting a safe, consistent, and nurturing environment.
  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement individual support plans.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour, independence, and communication skills.


To be successful in this SEND Teaching Assistant role, you will need:

  • Previous experience working with children with complex needs, particularly Autism.
  • A strong understanding of ASD and communication strategies, including ASL.
  • Experience working on a 1:1 basis.
  • A calm, patient, and adaptable approach.
  • A strong commitment to supporting children with additional needs.
