Job Description

Flourish Education are recruiting for a SENDCo to work in an Ofsted rated ‘Good’ Primary school near Saltley to join their staff team on a long-term basis.

Our client is seeking to appoint a dedicated and experienced SENDCO to lead and oversee SEND provision across the school. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of primary teaching and learning and be able to effectively support colleagues in delivering high-quality, inclusive classroom practice. They will play a key role in driving the graduated approach to SEND support, ensuring that appropriate interventions, scaffolding, and strategies are in place to enable all pupils to achieve their full potential.

The ideal candidate will model best practice in inclusive education, provide guidance and support to teaching staff, and work collaboratively to ensure that pupils with additional needs receive tailored and effective support. They will be committed to promoting an inclusive learning environment where every child is supported academically, socially, and emotionally.

This SENDCo role is to start in September 2026 and will continue until the end of the academic year with permanent opportunity too. The position is 5 days per week, Monday to Friday.

Required Skills and Experience for this SENDCo role:

  • Hold a recognised SENDCO qualification and/or have proven experience working as a SENDCO.
  • Demonstrate excellent knowledge of SEND provision, including the ability to develop, implement, and review effective support strategies and action plans for pupils.
  • Attend and contribute to meetings with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), teaching staff, parents, and external professionals.
  • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, enabling positive relationships with pupils, parents, staff, and external agencies.
  • Have a sound understanding of primary teaching and learning to effectively support classroom practice and pupil outcomes.
  • Lead and facilitate meetings with staff to discuss pupil progress, support strategies, and SEND provision.
  • Liaise with external agencies and professionals to ensure pupils receive appropriate support and interventions.
  • Provide guidance, advice, and training to staff on strategies to support pupils with additional needs.
  • Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to inclusion, pupil wellbeing, and achieving positive outcomes for all learners.
  • Assess, monitor, and track pupil progress, ensuring targets are regularly reviewed, achieved, and clearly evidenced.
  • Develop and create tailored learning resources to meet individual needs and enhance pupil engagement.
  • Support teachers in differentiating learning activities to ensure accessibility and progress for all pupils.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and review of Individual Education Plans (IEPs), EHCP provision, and other support plans.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, support staff, parents, and external professionals to ensure a consistent and effective approach to pupil support.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive learning environment that supports the social, emotional, behavioural, and academic development of all pupils.
Working for Flourish Education as a SENDCo you will receive:
  • £168.80 day rate to £261 day rate which equates to £32,916 per annum to £50,895 per annum based on working 5 days a week for a full school year

This SENDCo opportunity is located in Saltley which is easily commutable from Alum Rock, Bordesley Green, Small Heath, Nechells, Ward End, Sparkbrook, Aston, Stechford, Yardley and most areas of Birmingham via car, bus and train.
