Job Description

We are looking for a specialist Teaching Assistant with experience in working with Visual and Hearing Impairment looking for a new challenge based in West Birmingham at a school where each child is viewed holistically and where they place a strong emphasis on personalised learning. This is for a Long term role with immediate start until December 2024.

JOB ROLE:

Our Specialist TA role is an excellent opportunity to make a big difference in a pupil’s education and involves:

  • Working one to one both in and outside of the classroom
  • Supervising physical, academic and general care of pupils
  • Delivering targeted support

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous experience in supporting children with Visual and/or Hearing Impairments
  • Experience of using specialist Braille equipment and specialist ICT equipment for VI
  • Signing BSL to Stage 1 or a willingness to learn to sign for HI
  • An enhanced DBS check on the update service and be able to provide references
