About The Role

Role: 2x SEN Early Years teaching assistants, full time

Location: Smethwick, B66

Starting: September (until end of academic year)

Flourish Education are currently recruiting for a full-time teaching assistant to work in a Year 5 class at a ‘Good’ school in the Smethwick area. The school takes great pride in building a supportive school community, with great communication and staff working towards goals. The school is two-form entry and staff encourage all pupils to become independent learners. Parental engagement is something that the school looks to promote through different initiatives. Someone who would help to work towards these objectives would fit in perfectly.

The ideal teaching assistant would be someone who has previously worked in the Early Years age range and has experience supporting pupils with SEN needs. In September, a small group of pupils will be joining the Reception class with a range of needs including: Autism, toilet needs (including nappy changing), sensory needs and behavioural needs. All pupils are currently being reviewed for EHCP. Prior working knowledge of contributing to EHCP plans and carrying out interventions towards the targets would be highly desirable. The role will involve working with pupils for morning/afternoon on a rotation basis to ensure that the children form relationships with several staff members. The position is full-time and is ideally working within the school for the full academic year.

To apply for this teaching assistant role you will need the following:

• A valid teaching assistant qualification.
• Previous experience working in Early Years
• Experience of supporting SEN needs as 1:1 or general
• Experience working from/contributing to an EHCP
• Commitment to a long-term role.
• DBS on the update service or issued in the last 12 months.
• Minimum of 2 excellent references required.

Responsibilities for the teaching assistant role:

• To support the learning of pupils.
• To follow the directions of the class teacher as required.
• To follow the school behaviour policy and code of conduct.
• To provide intervention support
• To collaborate with colleagues and the class teacher.
• To attend meetings and CPD training that is relevant to the role.
• To report pupil progress to relevant stakeholders.
