Job Description

Flourish Education are recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to support in a local partnership Primary School in Kings Norton. The school is a small ‘good’ rated school, who believe in empowering pupils, promoting achievements and being a fully inclusive learning environment.

Our client is seeking a class-based Year 1 Teaching Assistant, to support on a full-time, long-term basis, starting in September and continuing until the end of the academic year. This role is not a SEND specific role, however some pupils within the class will have SEND. The responsibilities of this role will include supporting the class teacher, preparing resources, managing behaviour within the classroom and supporting pupils in small groups and on a 1-1 basis. Experience of phonics (Read, Write Inc.) would be desired but not required.

This Year 1 Teaching Assistant role would be a long-term, full-time role, starting in September and is continuing until the end of the academic year.

This Year 1 Teaching Assistant role involves:

  • Building trusting relationships with the pupils
  • Ensuring the safety of the children in the class
  • Contributing to a safe, engaging, and positive learning environment
  • Working closely with the class teacher.
  • Conduct small group work when needed.

Required Skills and Experience for this Year 1 Teaching Assistant role:

  • To hold the minimum of a Level 2 qualification.
  • Good curriculum knowledge of Key Stage 1 (KS1).
  • Experience working in Primary Schools in the UK.
  • A DBS on the update service or issued in the last 12 months.
  • A minimum of 2 excellent references.

This Year 1 Teaching Assistant role is based at a school in Kings Norton which is easily accessible from Hawkesley, West Heath, Turves Green, Northfield, Cotteridge, Cofton Common and Longbridge. Onsite parking is available, but the school is easily accessed via Public Transport.
