Based in Selly Oak, this opportunity is a long-term assignment running through the remainder of the school year, supporting a high-needs Year 6 child 1:1. This role is a part time position working on Wednesdays, Fridays, and a full or half day on Tuesdays.
The responsibilities of this SEND Teaching Assistant, include:
- Support a Year 6 child 1:1 with Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) and challenging behaviour.
- Engage the child through their interests, including running games, football, and humour.
- Collaborate with another TA to create a nurturing learning environment.
- Implement tailored strategies to meet the child’s specific needs.
- Be an integral part of an outstanding primary school community.
Required Skills and Experience
- Previous UK school experience, ideally in Key Stage 2 (KS2) or Year 6.
- A Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in supporting teaching and learning.
- Proven ability to manage disruptive behaviour and build rapport with high-needs pupils.
- Experience supporting children with PDA or similar behavioural needs.
- A sporty, fun, and empathetic approach to connect with pupils.
