Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant, looking for a new role next term?

A friendly and supportive First school in Bromsgrove is looking to appoint a part-time Teaching Assistant to support their Reception class from February through to the end of the academic year. This is a long-term opportunity working, Mondays - Thursdays.

In this role, you will work closely with the class teacher to provide in-class support, helping pupils to stay engaged, build confidence and make progress with their learning. You’ll support individuals and small groups, offering encouragement and guidance to help children reach their potential both academically and socially.

As a Reception Teaching Assistant, you will become an important part of the classroom team, contributing to a calm, structured and supportive learning environment. The school is known for its welcoming staff, strong community feel and commitment to supporting pupils throughout their primary education.

As a Reception Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting learning within a Reception classroom

  • Working with small intervention groups and individual pupils as directed by the class teacher

  • Helping pupils stay focused and engaged with lessons

  • Supporting children with their social development and confidence

  • Assisting with classroom organisation and resources

  • Working collaboratively with teaching staff to support learning outcomes


To be successful in this Teaching Assistant role, you will need:

  • Previous experience working with children, ideally within Early Years settings

  • Knowledge of the Early Years framework

  • A good understanding of phonics schemes

  • A positive, patient and supportive approach

  • Confidence supporting learning in the classroom

  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team

  • A proactive and adaptable attitude
