A welcoming and supportive primary school in Bromsgrove is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with a Year 1 child for the remainder of the academic year. This is a full-time role supporting a pupil who is currently working at Reception level, within a school known for its nurturing environment and strong staff support.

This opportunity would suit a patient and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant who can build a strong, trusting relationship and provide consistent, tailored support. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide dedicated 1:1 support, helping the child access learning and develop both academically and socially. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver targeted support and ensure the child’s individual needs are met, including providing personal care when required. The school places a strong emphasis on inclusion, wellbeing, and creating a positive learning environment for all pupils.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

• Providing 1:1 support for a Year 1 pupil working at Reception level.

• Supporting learning activities tailored to the child’s individual needs.

• Assisting with personal care in a respectful and dignified manner.

• Encouraging social interaction and emotional development.

• Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider staff team.

• Promoting a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.

To be successful in this SEN Teaching Assistant role, you will need:

• Previous experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant or supporting children with additional needs.

• A patient, nurturing, and empathetic approach.

• Confidence in providing personal care.

• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

• The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.

• A flexible and proactive attitude.
