Job Description

Year 6 Teaching Assistant required for a welcoming and supportive Primary School in Gloucester, rated Good by OFSTED. This is a fantastic opportunity to secure a long term role with a September start, working full time with a Year 6 class as pupils prepare for SATs and their transition to secondary school.

Previous UK school experience is essential, making this an ideal opportunity for an experienced TA looking to support pupils during this important stage of their education.

Job Role
 
  • Support Year 6 pupils with their learning across the National Curriculum.
  • Work closely with the Class Teacher to deliver engaging lessons and targeted interventions.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support in English and Maths, helping pupils prepare for SATs.
  • Encourage pupils' confidence, independence and readiness for secondary school.
  • Prepare classroom resources and assist with maintaining a positive learning environment.
  • Carry out general TA responsibilities as part of the wider school team.

Required Skills and Experience
 
  • Experience working as a Year 6 Teaching Assistant or Teaching Assistant within a UK school.
  • Previous UK school experience is essential.
  • Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent.
  • Experience working within a Primary School, ideally in Upper Key Stage 2.
  • Good knowledge of the National Curriculum, particularly Year 6 expectations.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SATs preparation.
  • Confident delivering targeted English and Maths interventions.
  • Able to work collaboratively with the Class Teacher to raise pupil attainment.
  • Strong communication, organisation and behaviour management skills.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to supporting pupils as a TA.
